Educational Tours at Celtic Gardens
Celtic Gardens has changed its’ name to Celtic Gardens Organic Farm and Learning Center. Celtic Gardens is operated by Stephen Bird who formerly taught high school science and agriculture. In 2004 Celtic Gardens offered small tours to home school groups and found that there was great interest in bringing children to an organic farm to learn about farming. The tours have grown in popularity and size every year. In 2007 over 500 children visited Celtic Gardens Organic Farm and Learning Center to learn about organic farming.
Children of all ages love to visit Celtic Gardens Organic Farm & Learning Center to enjoy the natural scenery, and the taste the freshly grown fruits. In 2008 the farm has added a hen house. The hen house is a great learning tool. Children are naturally attracted to farm animals. As the students are drawn to the chickens it provides a great opportunity to learn how eggs are produced on an organic farm. This year for the first time Celtic Gardens will offer tours in the spring. In the past the tours were only held during apple, pumpkin, and grape harvest, but this year we will begin scheduling tours during spring blossom. Spring blossom is a great time to see the beginning of the growing cycle; planting, irrigation planning, weed control, etc. It is a great time to learn how you can grow a garden at home and have healthy, nutritious, organic produce outside your own door. As always the tour will include information about organic growing, mountain grown fruit, benefits of local produce, & the benefits of fully ripened produce. You may schedule your tour by contacting Celtic Gardens at celticgardens@netzero.com.
